New Defending Globalization Content: Global Equality, ‘Deindustrialization,’ India’s Rise, and the ‘Race to the Bottom’

Scott Lincicome

Today we’ve published three great new essays for Cato’s Defending Globalization project:

Globalization and Growing Global Equality, by Chelsea Follett, documents how—contrary to the conventional wisdom—the last few decades of globalization have seen unambiguous declines in global inequality across a variety of metrics, including income inequality, education inequality, and more. The Reality of American “Deindustrialization”, by Colin Grabow, debunks the myth of American “deindustrialization” and shows instead that the US manufacturing sector remains a global powerhouse and vibrant part of the US economy. Globalization Has Propelled India to Prosperity, by Swaminathan S. Anklesaria Aiyar, traces India’s opening to the global economy and subsequent economic growth, while cautioning that much work remains to be done.

We also have a new video of Cato Senior Fellow Johan Norberg and me discussing his Defending Globalization essay on the supposed “race to the bottom”:

This content joins fourteen other essays and other multimedia features on the main Defending Globalization project page. Be sure to check it all out, and stay tuned for more to come.
